About Geriatric Solutions

The idea to establish Geriatric Solutions, LLC began in 2010 when the founder, Madetric Wood, recognized the need for a healthcare practice that employs healthcare professionals who are sensitive to the healthcare needs of adults and the elderly. Geriatric Solutions is a company founded on the principal of providing age appropriate care to the adult population in the home, skilled nursing facility, assisted living, and long term care setting. Our highly-trained providers have the unique qualifications to provide healthcare to adults and the elderly who have challenging and complicated medical and social requirements. Adult + Geriatric Solutions nurses believe that the most effective way to deliver age appropriate medical care is to address the physical, mental, and social needs of the individual.

As healthcare evolves and the cost of healthcare services increase, Adult + Geriatric Solutions is taking a proactive approach to be socially responsible by offering alternative approaches to geriatric management of the elderly home-bound patient. Adult + Geriatric Solutions believe the elderly adult needing special medical care has the right to age in place where they are most comfortable while still receiving medical management in the home. Collaboration with other qualified medical services providers in the community allows the company the ability to order laboratory tests, mobile imaging services, and home healthcare services to the home-bound patient. As a result of providing these services in the home, the cost of an unnecessary hospitalization and placement in a long term care facility is drastically reduced.

Florida Health Providers Named House Call Champions

Florida Health Providers Named House Call Champions

National nonprofit recognizes 12 leaders in home-based care as part of ‘Florida House Call Project’

Twelve Florida health care providers have been named Home-Centered Care Champions for their exceptional work caring for Florida’s most vulnerable residents—homebound adults with chronic conditions. The Champions will work with the national nonprofit Home Centered Care Institute (HCCI), to spread awareness and increase adoption of home-based care, and elevate the quality of care throughout the state.

As part of HCCI’s Florida House Call Project, the 12 Champions are recognized for providing age-friendly, high-quality care to homebound patients across the state. They also participate in ongoing professional education to develop their own skills, mentor others in best practices, and raise awareness about the value of home-based primary care in their communities.

In Florida more than half a million individuals are homebound or home-limited and need care delivered in the home. Without home-based primary care, also called the modern-day house call, many forego primary care or rely on their local emergency departments to meet their needs when crises arise. During house call visits, physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants provide primary care services (e.g., blood draws, medication management, immunizations) in the patient’s home, resulting in improved health outcomes, enhanced quality of life for patients and caregivers, and a reduced cost of care, according to the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.

Aligning with its mission to advance home-based primary care, HCCI launched the Florida House Call Project in 2020 to promote home-based primary care among providers, develop a foundation for statewide research in the field, and elevate awareness among patients and caregivers across the state. The project is funded through a grant from the RRF Foundation for Aging.

“Home-based primary care was already on the rise prior to 2020, then the pandemic hit and illustrated to an even greater extent the need for high-quality care delivered safely in the home,” said Julie Sacks, president and COO of HCCI. “The days of skipping necessary primary care because of mobility challenges are over. Home-based primary care is here to stay.”
